Audio Engineering Level 1

Music Production & Engineering Foundations

Three months, live online. Learn Pro Tools and the art of mixing from working audio professionals.

Audio Engineering Level 1 is SRA's foundational program that builds your technical, creative and professional skills. You'll learn techniques that last a lifetime, working in AVID Pro Tools, the gold-standard in audio software.

The Craft

You'll learn every step, from the fundamentals of recording and microphones to deeper dives in editing, mixing, production and mastering, all on real projects.

Mentorship

You'll receive personalized feedback and mentorship throughout, including two one-on-one sessions with an instructor outside regular classes to work directly on your mixes.

Your Path

Level 1 can be taken on its own, and serves as the prerequisite for our Audio Engineering Level 2 program, where students go on to receive full studio training in-person.

Level 1 is taught live online. You'll work in Pro Tools from your own setup, with real-time guidance from your instructor.

Monday and Thursday evenings from 6-8pm Pacific Time

We combine demonstration, in-class exercises using real world scenarios, real time Q&A and discussion, independent coursework with feedback and replay videos of every class.

Computer + Gear: AVID Pro Tools Software (Artist Version), Pro Tools iLok, Audio Interface, Microphone + Stand, HD Headphones, MIDI Keyboard (2-Octave or higher). Estimated ~$500 new, pre-owned gear is acceptable.
