Audio Engineering Level 2 - The Studio Experience (In Person)

NOW ENROLLING FOR SPRING 2025! Gain a powerful foundation of creative, technical and business skills to work professionally in the studio and beyond. Building on Audio Engineering Level 1 as the prerequisite, we dive deep into more advanced techniques, equipment and hands-on sessions with artists. Students gain a high level of real world studio experience as our live session work begins right at the start and continues all throughout. Our training takes place in one of Seattle’s legacy A-list recording studios, Orbit Audio owned by SRA’s Founder Joe Reineke, a multi-platinum record award recipient who has engineered and produced hundreds of albums and tracks for artists worldwide. We believe that an advanced education of this importance needs to happen hands-on, with small class sizes and in a real working environment. Like Joe, all SRA instructors are accomplished audio professionals who offer a wealth of knowledge from years of first hand experience. All throughout, students receive individualized mentorship while gaining valuable project experience and an empowering skill set for hireability and lasting success. Students complete the course with several days of studio time to independently record and mix a band of their choice. Program Length: Six Months / Maximum Class Size: 6 students. / Next Start Date: March 15, 2025 with applications due by Feb. 23rd (application kit with instructions available for download in the Applications section below). We can accept applications after a deadline in the event any seats remain open or are released - please inquire.

Course Structure

Classes meet in-person one full day each week (Saturdays 9:30a-6p). Our format includes discussion, demonstration, hands-on exercises, live artist sessions, mentorship and independent project work with personalized feedback. The last hour of each class day is dedicated to elective lab time where students can opt to stay and gain even more practice and personalized attention.

Learn in an A-List Studio

There's no better place to learn the recording process than hands-on in a real working studio where artists such as Macklemore, Halsey, Alice in Chains, Vance Joy and Lil’ Yachty come to work, to name just a few of our clients. Students gain access to our world class equipment and train under professional audio engineers.

Quality over Quantity

By electing to keep our class sizes very small (6 students max), we naturally have the time and availability for Q&A and mentorship throughout every class. During the course, each student additionally receives two private one on one sessions with an instructor to personally evaluate and guide on their micing and console mixing techniques.
