Last month, we welcomed rising star Yahritza Martínez and her band Yahritza y Su Esencia for several days at our very own studio, Orbit Audio. Yahritza is breaking through as a female voice, and at age 15 is the youngest Latin artist to make Billboard’s Hot 100 chart.

Speaking to her success, Yahritza says, “I feel happy because I’m inspiring other women as well. Not just women, but other kids as well, everybody. I just feel like when they see someone young, they get inspired by it too, and they want to do it as well.”

Today, members of the Recording Academy™ joined executives from across the music industry to testify on Capitol Hill about the current state of music law. Before the Senate Judiciary Committee, witnesses spoke of how current copyright law has impacted them and urged the committee to pass S. 2823, the Music Modernization Act. The companion bill to H.R. 5447 – Music Modernization Act, which unanimously passed the House of Representatives less than a month ago, S. 2823 provides the first major reform to music copyright law in decades.
